DevOps Engineer (m/f/d)

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) for World Data Lab’s remote tech team. You will take ownership of the DevOps function, improving system reliability, enabling fast and reliable software delivery, and embedding observability across infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and improve infrastructure with a hands-on DevOps approach
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Manage and monitor AWS instances and services
• Build and manage AWS server infrastructure, including Kubernetes
• Implement and maintain monitoring/metrics/logging for WDL projects
• Automate and improve development and release processes
• Partner with software engineers to ensure development processes are scalable, secure, consistent, and work as intended
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to verify and release data updates to data products
• Participate in project planning and infrastructure-related project management decisions
• Produce clear technical documentation

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer
• Hands-on knowledge with:
  • AWS
  • GitHub Actions
  • Kubernetes
  • Relational databases: PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
• Strong observability orientation and operational excellence mindset
• Hands-on ability to work across a broad technical landscape
• Solid knowledge of Agile development processes and current best practices

Nice to Have

• Experience with Java (Spring) and Python
• Experience with Jira
• Observability tools/frameworks such as Grafana
• Exposure to Terraform/Terragrunt
• Familiarity with CloudWatch and Cloudflare
• Familiarity with Redis, Amazon SQS, and AWS Cognito
• Ability to guide complex projects involving data scientists, product owners, and designers
