About the role
Role Overview
DevOps Engineer for a fast-scaling, regulated environment where software delivery, bioinformatics pipelines, and cloud infrastructure must be reliable, secure, and traceable. You will own platform infrastructure and CI/CD, build reproducible environments, and improve observability, security, and deployment efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) to automate testing, deployment, and releases across environments.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for scalable, version-controlled, auditable cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP.
- Automate deployments and configuration for applications and bioinformatics workflows across containerized/cloud-native setups.
- Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including services such as Google Cloud Run and AWS services.
- Develop automation scripts in Python and Shell/Bash to reduce manual operations.
- Improve observability with logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Enforce security best practices in CI/CD pipelines, including secrets management, access controls, and vulnerability scanning.
- Collaborate with engineering/science/operations teams on deployment processes, documentation, and infrastructure standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years in DevOps/platform engineering/software engineering with strong automation and cloud focus.
- Strong hands-on CI/CD experience, preferably GitHub Actions (familiar with GitLab CI or Jenkins).
- Production experience with AWS and GCP.
- Deep expertise with Terraform.
- Strong Docker and Kubernetes experience.
- Proficiency in Python and Shell/Bash.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Git workflows, and branching strategies.
- Experience implementing security controls and compliance in cloud/CI-CD contexts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Familiarity with regulated environments (healthcare/clinical diagnostics) is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog (or similar).
- GitOps practices.
