About the role
Role Overview
DevOps Engineer IV at Availity (Remote, United States). You will lead the design, implementation, operations, and support of cloud-native infrastructure and container orchestration platforms, with a primary focus on Kubernetes on AWS EKS.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters (primarily AWS EKS)
- Build and maintain containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes best practices
- Define and enforce standards for containerization, deployment patterns, and cluster operations
- Build scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant platform architectures
- Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Terragrunt/CloudFormation)
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, automation, and operational excellence
- Partner with Cloud Architecture, Security, and Engineering to modernize infrastructure
- Enable application teams through self-service and platform capabilities
- Act as a senior technical leader: contribute to architecture decisions and mentor engineers
- Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and operational standards
Requirements
- 5–7+ years in cloud, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Hands-on production Kubernetes operations
- Strong AWS experience, including Amazon EKS
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation)
- CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions)
- Observability/monitoring experience (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or similar)
- Strong scripting/automation (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Git-based workflows and version control best practices
- Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum
Preferred
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer) and/or Kubernetes certs (CKA/CKAD)
- Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, network policies, secrets management)
- Service mesh experience (Istio, Linkerd)
- Multi-cluster or hybrid Kubernetes environments
