DevOps Engineer III - Transformation Focus

Role Overview

SpryPoint is seeking a DevOps Engineer III focused on cloud transformation. You will lead strategic AWS infrastructure initiatives, driving migrations and standardizing infrastructure-as-code and operational practices across a multi-tenant SaaS platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure migrations:
  • Elastic Beanstalk → ECS/Fargate
  • RDS → Aurora Serverless v2 (targeting zero downtime)
• Design and implement IaC using AWS CDK (Python), including team standards and best practices
• Optimize databases (PostgreSQL/Aurora) via:
  • query tuning
  • connection pool management
  • capacity planning
• Architect and standardize networking using VPC, Transit Gateway, security groups, and routing aligned with AWS Well-Architected Framework
• Build automation workflows with Python, AWS Lambda, and Step Functions
• Implement observability and monitoring using AWS native tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Application Signals, X-Ray)
• Create runbooks and documentation to enable team self-service and reduce dependencies
• Mentor DevOps engineers on AWS fundamentals and effective use of AI-assisted development tools
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to maintain SOC 2 / PCI compliance while enabling rapid delivery
• Drive operational excellence through troubleshooting, incident response, and continuous improvement

Required Skills

• 5+ years managing production AWS infrastructure at scale
• Strong hands-on experience with ECS, Fargate, and container orchestration
• Proven track record leading cloud migrations and infrastructure modernization

Nice-to-haves

• Experience applying AWS Well-Architected Framework for reliability, security, and performance
• Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency with automation and observability
