DevOps Engineer, II

Role Overview

Encoura is hiring a DevOps Engineer (Azure DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer) to own and operate cloud-native, enterprise production platforms. This is a hands-on role within a knowledgeable DevOps team, with responsibility for reliability, automation, migrations, and primary on-call incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, performance, and availability of large-scale production systems (monitoring dashboards, alert review, incident resolution)
• Act as primary on-call responder: triage, coordinate resolution, and lead post-mortems
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Octopus Deploy
• Automate cloud infrastructure and services (Azure Web Apps, Functions, SQL, Storage, Key Vaults, Entra ID) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams on deployments, migrations, and compliance initiatives
• Optimize cloud spend, scalability, and auto-scaling across hosted environments
• Modernize and enforce incident management tooling and security best practices/system hardening

Role Progression

• Within 1 month: onboard into Azure environments, understand CI/CD landscape for Reach and Raise, start contributing to on-call and day-to-day ops
• Within 3 months: take ownership of infrastructure components, improve monitoring/alerting, deliver progress on migration or cost optimization
• Within 6 months: become a recognized technical leader; independently design/deliver complex solutions and shape the reliability roadmap

Requirements

• BS/BA in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent; or unrelated bachelor’s with 7+ years experience
• 4+ years experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering with hands-on Microsoft Azure production experience
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy)
• Demonstrated ability to lead cloud migrations, infrastructure automation, and incident response at scale
• Experience with Azure services: Web Apps, Functions, SQL, Storage, Key Vaults, Entra ID
• Ability to design and deliver complex solutions with minimal direction
• Strong understanding of security best practices, system hardening, and compliance
• Excellent stakeholder collaboration (engineering, product, security)
• Very strong scripting/automation skills
• Champion-level experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform or ARM/Bicep)
• Experience supporting iterative development teams using Agile/Scrum/Kanban
• Strong understanding of Azure billing and cost modeling
