DevOps Engineer

Role overview

You will lead and shape DevOps/SRE initiatives for a multi-tenant SaaS platform. This is a highly hands-on role focused on designing an engineering platform, setting standards, and automating processes so product teams can develop, test, and deploy independently, securely, and confidently.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve a modern DevOps platform enabling teams to own build, test, and deployment workflows end-to-end.
• Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions or similar) that support microservices, data workloads, and batch jobs with self-service and repeatability.
• Define and enforce repository, branching, and code-quality standards, governance, and automation patterns across engineering teams.
• Implement infrastructure as code for consistent, auditable, and scalable environment provisioning using AWS CDK and Terraform.
• Partner with production and IT operations teams by providing automated deployment workflows and infrastructure support.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps or Platform Engineering, including 5+ years in a senior/lead capacity.
• 3+ years designing and operating solutions on AWS (cloud architecture).
• Strong software engineering background with 5+ years hands-on development in Python, Java, or similar.
• Expertise architecting, building, and deploying microservices in distributed, production environments.
• 2+ years with GitHub Enterprise, including GitHub Actions and branch rulesets.
• Experience designing and evolving microservices architectures for independent deployability and scalability.
• Extensive experience building large-scale CI/CD pipelines and release engineering infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce repository standards, naming conventions, and governance policies at scale.
• Expert Terraform experience for infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to lead technically and collaborate across teams.

Preferred qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related.
• AWS certification (DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect).
• Experience with developer platform tools (e.g., Backstage service catalogs).
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps for work management and automation.
• Experience with DORA metrics and other DevOps performance indicators.

Work model and location

• Based in Boston, MA with a flexible hybrid work model (collaboration + remote work).
