About the role

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer to build and own the systems that deploy, run, and keep Dunedain’s platform reliable across multiple environments, including the edge. You will design CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration so a small team can ship quickly while meeting compliance and security constraints.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and own CI/CD pipelines, container images, and orchestration (commit → deployed).
Deploy and operate the platform across cloud, on-prem, disconnected, and edge environments.
Build with compliance/accreditation/security requirements in mind for hardened and federal deployments.
Improve reliability, maintainability, and performance of compute infrastructure as usage grows.
Automate provisioning, configuration, secrets, and repeatable deployments.
Partner with engineering and product to understand needs and deliver infrastructure accordingly.
Own incident response for systems you build and drive fixes to prevent recurrence.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering focused on operational reliability.
Strong Docker and Kubernetes experience.
Hands-on CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; comfort with on-prem/data-center operations.
Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, networking, and system reliability.
Proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust.
Experience deploying/operating across varied target environments (not only one cloud).
US citizenship required.
Willingness and eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

DevOps experience in hardened/federal environments (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP, RMF, CMMC, air-gapped/classified networks).
Edge deployments and low-connectivity/resource-constrained environments.
Security and accreditation tooling familiarity (scanning, hardened base images, STIGs, continuous monitoring).
Military experience or prior work supporting DoD/DoW customers.
Startup experience and/or fast-moving agile team track record.
Active security clearance.

Location / Work Model

Hybrid in the Austin, TX area or remote.

Compensation

$140,000–$250,000 + 0.1–0.5% company equity (based on experience).
