About the role

Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer develops, configures, and manages application servers and supporting infrastructure. You will ensure strong system performance, efficient resource utilization, and support customers on software and network architecture projects—while implementing monitoring/observability capabilities and driving continuous improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and maintain IaC pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, or Pulumi.
  • Container & orchestration: Create and manage Kubernetes clusters (AKS and/or on-prem) and Docker environments.
  • CI/CD: Architect, maintain, and evolve scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Application infrastructure: Develop, configure, and manage application servers/services; monitor performance and optimize CPU, memory, storage, and network I/O.
  • Azure hybrid infrastructure: Maintain and optimize Azure-based hybrid systems, including Databricks and TimescaleDB.
  • Networking & security: Architect and troubleshoot networking components (firewalls, wireless, VPNs, segmentation/DMZ) and ensure secure configurations.
  • Compliance & resilience: Collaborate with platform and security teams to meet compliance needs (including SOC 2 Type 2).
  • Testing & readiness: Organize desktop exercises; participate in risk assessments/readiness reviews and limited travel for equipment/software testing and customer training.
  • Collaboration & governance: Participate in code reviews; coordinate customer-specific deployments/upgrades; support documentation and reporting.
  • Monitoring and FinOps: Champion monitoring/observability and cost-efficiency initiatives to drive FinOps (e.g., right-sizing, reserved instances, cloud spend analysis).

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering supporting production systems.
  • Deep experience with CI/CD and IaC (Terraform/Bicep/Ansible/Pulumi; GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS/on-prem), Docker, and container orchestration.
  • Strong networking expertise: routing, VNET design, firewalls, wireless connectivity, VPNs, segmentation/DMZ.
  • Practical knowledge of Azure and data platforms such as Databricks and TimescaleDB in hybrid environments.
  • Experience with observability/monitoring and cost optimization (cloud spend analysis, right-sizing, reserved instances).
  • Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks and audits (including SOC 2 Type 2 and NIST 800-53), plus readiness/risk assessment exercises.
  • Experience with policy-as-code (e.g., OPA/Conftest).
