DevOps Engineer

Join Clever as a DevOps Engineer to own and improve the infrastructure, deployment systems, and operational foundation that keep Clever reliable, secure, and resilient.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve infrastructure and operational systems supporting engineering teams.
• Build safer deployment paths with automated health checks, documented rollback plans, and clear version visibility.
• Strengthen observability and incident response via:
  • improved alerts and dashboards
  • escalation paths
  • post-incident tracking and operational follow-up
  • runbooks and operational exercises
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Operations to enhance production reliability and security readiness.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure/platform engineering, or backend engineering with hands-on production infrastructure ownership.
• Ability to reason about production systems and write code/automation.
• Comfortable reading backend application code and making well-scoped changes when infra/application behavior overlap.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, deployment automation, rollback strategies, environment management, and release safety.
• Strong written communication and business judgment for runbooks, technical decisions, operational standards, and incident follow-up.
• Strong AWS/cloud operations experience, especially ECS, RDS, networking, IAM, DNS.
• Strong security and access-management judgment (secrets management, environment controls, least privilege).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, repeatable templates, scripting, and automation.

Nice to have

• SOC2 and experience with security audits.
• Redis, background workers, queue systems, webhook delivery.
• Monitoring/observability tools such as Datadog and Sentry.
• Tooling: GitHub Actions, Terraform, Cloudflare, Tailscale, Docker.
• Backend stack familiarity: Django/Python and TypeScript.
