Development Manager

Role Overview

Development Manager – Applications and Integrations (Working Engineering Manager) Fully remote in the US. Lead a small, high-ownership team at the core of an enterprise application and integration stack. This is hands-on leadership: you will design and build MuleSoft integrations and ship production code while also providing technical direction and stakeholder leadership.

Responsibilities

Engineering (~50%+)

• Design and build MuleSoft integrations connecting Epic, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, and internal systems
• Contribute to an active cloud migration from on-prem WebSphere/Oracle to Azure (targeted completion this year)
• Refactor and redeploy custom enterprise apps into Azure-native services
• Write backend code, build API-led integrations, and troubleshoot production systems

Leadership (~50%)

• Provide stability and long-term direction for a collaborative, self-sufficient team
• Own stakeholder communication and executive reporting, translating engineering work into business impact
• Remove blockers across security, infrastructure, and cloud teams
• Run 1:1s, protect team norms, and advocate for team needs

Requirements

• Developer at heart: hands-on experience and you still code
• Strong MuleSoft experience: building integration flows and API-led connectivity
• Azure cloud experience, ideally including migration from legacy enterprise environments (e.g., WebSphere, Oracle, J2EE) to cloud
• Integration background with REST APIs, enterprise system integrations, and complex data flows
• Leadership experience: managing or de facto leading a dev team (standups, mentoring, coordinating delivery)
• Clear, confident communicator comfortable with senior leadership and cross-functional partners

Nice to Have

• Salesforce experience
• Regulated industry background
• Familiarity with Epic or other healthcare enterprise systems
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, or DevOps tooling
