About the role

Role Overview

Development Lead supporting clients in the Washington DC–Baltimore area. This role is contingent upon contract award and serves as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes.
  • Design and develop enterprise-level applications and custom integrations, including major enhancements and interfaces.
  • Use multiple platforms to deliver automated systems and customer-facing application capabilities.
  • Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of complex, business-critical software solutions.
  • Provide expertise for application integration and ensure seamless system integrations and API functionality.
  • Oversee API-driven and microservices-based solution design and implementation.
  • Support the most difficult support problems.
  • Develop programming standards, procedures, and architectures to enable code reuse.
  • Research and apply emerging technologies to business needs.
  • Support Agile sprint execution and backlog management.
  • Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams.
  • Ensure code quality through peer reviews and automated testing practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of software development; at least 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience leading development teams for enterprise-scale, high-availability applications.
  • Strong experience with modern languages/frameworks such as Java, .NET, Spring Boot, and RESTful services.
  • Proven experience building API-driven and microservices-based applications.
  • Experience integrating with external systems and data sources (APIs, batch processing, data exchanges).
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and federal security standards compliance.
  • Experience supporting Agile environments (Scrum or SAFe).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration.
  • Ability to manage architectures supporting multiple users and work strategically under pressure.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting federal healthcare or CMS systems.
  • Relevant technical certifications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (required).
