About the role

Role Overview

Development Lead supporting clients in the Washington DC–Baltimore area. This role is contingent upon contract award and serves as a technical expert and critical resource across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

Drive continuous improvement in development processes.
Design and develop enterprise-level applications and custom integrations, including major enhancements and interfaces.
Use multiple platforms to deliver automated systems and customer-facing application capabilities.
Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of complex, business-critical software solutions.
Provide expertise for application integration and ensure seamless system integrations and API functionality.
Oversee API-driven and microservices-based solution design and implementation.
Support the most difficult support problems.
Develop programming standards, procedures, and architectures to enable code reuse.
Research and apply emerging technologies to business needs.
Support Agile sprint execution and backlog management.
Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams.
Ensure code quality through peer reviews and automated testing practices.

Requirements

Minimum 10+ years of software development; at least 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
Experience leading development teams for enterprise-scale, high-availability applications.
Strong experience with modern languages/frameworks such as Java, .NET, Spring Boot, and RESTful services.
Proven experience building API-driven and microservices-based applications.
Experience integrating with external systems and data sources (APIs, batch processing, data exchanges).
Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and federal security standards compliance.
Experience supporting Agile environments (Scrum or SAFe).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration.
Ability to manage architectures supporting multiple users and work strategically under pressure.

Nice to Have

Experience supporting federal healthcare or CMS systems.
Relevant technical certifications.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (required).
