Development Lead/Architect

Role Overview

Design, build, and deliver scalable software solutions as a Development Lead/Architect, combining hands-on engineering with architectural leadership. You’ll guide engineering teams toward technical excellence by shaping application architecture, improving performance, and ensuring high standards for code quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design small-to-medium software systems using scalable, maintainable approaches
• Develop clean, testable, efficient code across frontend and backend
• Provide technical leadership via code reviews, PR evaluations, troubleshooting, and mentoring
• Mentor mid-level and junior developers and coach teams on engineering best practices
• Design and maintain APIs using REST and/or GraphQL principles
• Improve performance by addressing frontend issues and backend bottlenecks (including inefficient SQL)
• Support database design: normalization, data modeling, and optimization
• Assist with DevOps tasks, including troubleshooting CI/CD pipeline issues and secure environment management
• Promote testing with unit tests and end-to-end testing
• Collaborate with product and technical stakeholders to explain architectural decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations

Requirements

• 8+ years software development experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• Strong frontend experience with React, Vue.js, or Angular
• Backend proficiency with Java, JavaScript, Python, or Go
• Experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL (or similar)
• Understanding of system design (normalization, load balancing, basic microservices)
• Experience debugging CI/CD pipelines and managing application configuration securely
• Strong testing knowledge (unit + end-to-end)
• Ability to conduct effective code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to mentor and promote collaborative engineering practices
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain Public Trust (High) clearance
