Developer II (Remote in WA, OR, ID)

Role Overview

Developer II at Gesa Credit Union. You will develop, enhance, and support applications used in the credit union’s banking operations, delivering significant features end-to-end within your domain.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers, Product Owners, and other developers to build custom software applications
• Design, develop, and test code following Gesa coding standards and established patterns
• Develop custom Web APIs to integrate software components (REST/SOAP)
• Write unit tests and contribute to basic integration testing when appropriate
• Participate in technical design discussions, proposing approaches and tradeoffs
• Improve performance and identify bottlenecks in owned services/components
• Design and implement security measures for assigned application areas using secure coding practices across the SDLC
• Perform and participate in code reviews to improve quality, security, and maintainability
• Support incident response and production issue resolution for owned application areas
• Maintain documentation for developed applications and systems
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications
• Reduce technical debt and recommend achievable process improvements
• Mentor associate and entry-level developers through pairing and code review feedback
• Stay current on evolving technology and secure development practices; share learnings with senior engineers and leadership

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication and analytical/troubleshooting skills
• Experience in an Agile and Scrum environment
• Web and application security knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and recommend improvements
• Ability to organize and manage multiple complex tasks
• Ability to lead/facilitate technical discussions and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
• Ability to mentor junior developers and provide constructive feedback via code reviews
• Working understanding of common application security risks (e.g., OWASP Top 10 awareness)
• Awareness of secure software development practices (e.g., secure SDLC/SSDF-aligned practices) and software supply-chain considerations (dependency hygiene)
