Developer II (Remote in WA, OR, ID)

Role Overview

Developer II will develop, enhance, and support Gesa’s applications for banking operations. You’ll deliver significant features end-to-end within your domain, collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, and Sr. Developers, and help improve performance, reliability, and security.

Remote: fully remote within Washington, Oregon, or Idaho.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers, Product Owners, and developers to build custom software applications
• Design, develop, and test code aligned with Gesa coding standards and established patterns
• Build custom Web APIs to integrate software components (REST/SOAP)
• Write unit tests and contribute to basic integration testing as appropriate
• Participate in technical design discussions; propose implementation approaches and tradeoffs
• Optimize performance and identify bottlenecks in owned components/services
• Implement security measures for assigned areas and follow secure coding practices across the SDLC
• Perform and participate in code reviews to improve quality, security, and maintainability
• Handle incident response and production issue resolution for owned application areas
• Maintain documentation for developed applications and systems
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications
• Identify and address technical debt and recommend practical process improvements
• Mentor associate/entry-level developers via pairing, code review feedback, and knowledge sharing
• Stay current on evolving technology, secure development practices, and share learnings with senior engineers and leadership

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Working knowledge of web security principles and security systems
• Ability to analyze information and recommend achievable process improvements
• Self-motivated; able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple complex tasks
• Ability to lead/facilitate technical discussions and collaborate with stakeholders
• Ability to mentor junior developers; provide constructive code review feedback
• Working understanding of common application security risks and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10 awareness)
• Awareness of secure SDLC/SSDF-aligned practices and software supply-chain/dependency hygiene
• Ability to travel to complete assigned responsibilities
