About the role
DevOps Engineer (Remote)
Join mPulse’s DevOps Platform Engineering team to support an AWS-based production platform with container orchestration, SQL Server workloads, and automation pipelines. You’ll use AI-powered tools to accelerate troubleshooting and scripting while helping modernize CI/CD and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Support and manage AWS infrastructure: EC2, EBS, VPC, S3, RDS
- Run and troubleshoot containerized workloads on Nomad and/or Kubernetes
- Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Work with SQL Server on EC2: monitoring, coordinating patching, and performance troubleshooting
- Use AI-powered tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot and observability insights) to automate repetitive tasks
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (preferred: Terraform)
- Monitor systems, investigate alerts, and assist in incident response
- Write automation scripts (Python/Bash) for operational workflows
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and system performance
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of AWS services (EC2, networking, RDS, storage)
- Familiarity with Linux and command-line usage
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python or Bash)
- Exposure to Docker
- Foundational understanding of databases (SQL Server preferred)
- Interest in using AI tools in engineering workflows
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and eagerness to learn
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to Nomad or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Basic SQL Server performance concepts (e.g., IOPS, storage, backups)
- Monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- Git-based workflows and networking fundamentals (VPC, subnets, security groups)
- Curiosity about applying AI to DevOps (AIOps/automation)
- Ownership, strong communication, and collaboration
What You’ll Work On
- High-IOPS, large-scale SQL Server workloads on AWS
- Running/troubleshooting Nomad/K8s orchestration
- Improving CI/CD to reduce manual operational overhead
- Applying AI-assisted DevOps practices for faster debugging and automation
