About the role
Role Overview
As a Designer at H&R Block, you’ll shape thoughtful, user-centered digital experiences that balance creativity with measurable business impact. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve customer challenges, bring ideas to life, and continuously refine experiences using feedback and data.
What You’ll Do (Day to Day)
- Support the Lead Designer and contribute to product and design direction with new thinking.
- Identify and define feature-size unsolved customer problems.
- Own medium-size design projects with guidance from the Lead Designer.
- Participate in design workshops, incorporate business input, and communicate design rationale.
- Produce responsive design for digital experiences.
- Work closely with Enterprise Capabilities (Block Design System) and brand teams to ensure consistency at scale.
- Maintain brand integrity while improving usability and accessibility.
- Understand the user journey and remove client pain points.
- Improve customer outcomes and engagement metrics (e.g., conversion, login, engagement).
- Incorporate testing, insights, and data to iterate features/tools within user flows.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers/Developers, Analytics, and Content Strategists to define goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and help launch new offerings.
- Collaborate with content authors on design governance for components/pages/site experiences (patterns, naming conventions, usability).
- Create clear presentations and design documentation communicating outcomes.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
- 3–5 years of digital/product design experience (agency or brand).
- Experience designing digital products/systems across mobile to desktop.
- Strong interest in iterative design and learning through group critique.
- Growth mindset: curious, collaborative, and ego-free.
- Strong attention to detail and process.
- Experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Ability to simplify complex problems and support user needs.
- Comfort collaborating with business and marketing partners.
