Design Technologist

Role: Design Technologist

You will own the design and engineering of Elation’s design system, and define how AI-native systems compose UI—including interaction patterns, visual language, and the developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, strategy, design, engineering, and evolution of Elation’s design system.
• Lead an AI-agent-first rearchitecting of the design system.
• Encode composition rules and component guidelines so an agent can discover and apply them.
• Shape Elation’s AI-native experience through component design, pattern development, and an opinionated approach to how design and engineering build.
• Contribute to the application’s design direction and visual language.
• Research and understand users’ problems, workflows, and jobs-to-be-done.
• Enable partners in design and engineering to leverage the systems effectively.

Requirements

• 5+ years shipping complex, web-based products in a cross-functional team as a designer, engineer, or related role.
• 2+ years leading cross-functional projects/initiatives with a record of driving strategy and execution.
• A true multi-discipline practitioner with strong design craft and the ability to build using modern frontend frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of design systems.
• Health tech or other compliance-heavy industry experience.
• AI-native work practices and experience building with agentic tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.

Nice to have

• Experience designing/building AI-native user experiences.
• Strong API literacy and data modeling experience.
• Accessibility and WCAG experience.
• Experience building AI platform/infrastructure (e.g., MCP servers, eval harnesses, token build pipelines).
