About the role

Role Overview

As a Design Technologist at Air Space Intelligence, you’ll bridge design and engineering to turn high-fidelity design intent into production-quality UI for mission-critical, data-dense airspace systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship production-ready UI components from design specs, emphasizing performance, reusability, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain the design system as living code, keeping design tokens, component libraries, and documentation in sync across web applications.
  • Prototype novel interactions and data visualizations to pressure-test new product ideas in real, interactive environments.
  • Preserve design intent by implementing high-fidelity features for high-density data and operationally critical contexts.
  • Create tooling and automation to accelerate the design-to-development workflow.
  • Iterate based on user feedback, operational requirements, and performance insights.

Requirements / What We Value

  • Strong front-end engineering skills, especially TypeScript, React, and modern CSS, plus a designer’s eye (portfolio of shipped interfaces or interactive prototypes).
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems in code (design tokens, component libraries, tooling aligned with a Figma (or similar) source of truth).
  • Ability to translate high-fidelity designs into pixel-accurate, performant browser implementations, particularly for dense operational environments.
  • Strong visual hierarchy, typography, and layout skills, with engineering capability to realize them faithfully.
  • Comfort with data-rich web applications and rendering performance; Canvas, SVG, WebGL, or mapping/geospatial libraries are a plus.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with designers, engineers, product managers, and end users.
  • Iterative mindset using feedback, research, and performance data.
  • Commitment to consistency and scalability of a unified design language across products.
  • Knowledge of responsive design and accessibility best practices.
  • Motivation for mission-driven work requiring precision and clarity.

Hiring Process Notes

  • The interview process is designed as a simulation of working together rather than a screening-style test.

Compliance / Eligibility

  • ASI works with export-controlled technology and restricted U.S. Government data; offers are contingent on ability to obtain required authorizations, including U.S. immigration status and location restrictions for performing personnel.
