About the role
Role: Design Project Manager (Estonia)
Design Project Manager for complex, mission-critical projects with a primary focus on hyperscale and enterprise data centers.
Engagement / Setup
- Independent contractor agreement (long-term, ongoing)
- US-based company; collaboration spans multiple projects based on business needs
- Work can be remote or hybrid, with office option in Tallinn
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams (Electrical, Mechanical, ICT, Structural, BIM/VDC, Architectural)
- Manage the full project lifecycle: proposal development → kickoff → design completion → construction support
- Serve as the primary client point of contact and maintain long-term relationships
- Own project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation
- Monitor financial performance (fee utilization, forecasts, invoicing, change management)
- Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, and cross-discipline coordination
- Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure deliverables meet QA/QC standards, client requirements, and industry best practices
- Support business development (proposals, fee estimates, project planning, client presentations)
- Mentor teams and promote collaboration and technical excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical field
- 7–10+ years of project management experience in engineering/architecture/design consulting
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams for mission-critical / data center projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships
- Experience delivering projects through all design phases and into construction support
Nice to have
- Strong technical understanding of mission-critical facilities and a record of leading large, fast-paced, multidisciplinary design programs
