About the role
Role Overview
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting a Design Leader (Sr Manager) for the Polyphonic AI Lab. This is a fully remote role focused on shaping the future of digital surgery by designing a next-generation surgical data & AI platform. You will lead human-centered design and own the user experience and interface design for the platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead user and market research to uncover needs, validate opportunities, and turn insights into new product ideas.
- Define and communicate a cohesive, scalable UX vision and roadmap in close collaboration with product management and engineering.
- Lead a team of strategists and product designers, from research → ideation → prototyping → production-ready designs across releases.
- Establish design principles and interaction patterns for emerging multimodal UX paradigms, including AI-assisted workflows.
- Integrate with and contribute to the design system, including components, patterns, and guidelines tailored to AI/ML tooling.
- Build strong cross-functional and SME networks to align on design priorities and accelerate learning and change management.
- Ensure solutions prioritize quality, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI.
- Stay current on trends across AI, multimodal data platforms, computer vision, digital surgery, and sensor-enabled intelligence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree (preferred) in Design or a design-related field.
- 8+ years of experience in product design and design management, delivering platform solutions—ideally in healthcare, digital health, and/or AI-enabled product environments.
- Strong design craft and demonstrated leadership of design teams delivering enterprise-scale work.
