Role overview

Design Lead at ComPsych will lead and mentor a team of designers, scale a robust design system, and connect design, product, and engineering. This is a hands-on role focused on both high-level design strategy and top-tier execution, with the opportunity to formalize how design is practiced across the company, including in an increasingly AI-accelerated product environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of 2+ designers; provide feedback, career guidance, and design coaching
Set the bar for design quality, craft, and cross-organization collaboration
Run regular design critiques and build a constructive, inclusive feedback culture
Hire and onboard additional design talent as the team grows
Architect and implement a scalable design system (component libraries, design tokens, interaction patterns, documentation)
Establish and enforce accessibility standards and brand guidelines across product surfaces
Create and maintain design documentation to align teams
Act as the internal Figma expert (shared libraries, file organization, naming standards, component governance)
Train and upskill designers and relevant partners on advanced Figma capabilities (auto layout, variables, prototyping, Dev Mode)
Stay current with Figma updates and evaluate new features for adoption
Collaborate with Product and Engineering across discovery-to-delivery integration
Partner with product leadership to influence roadmap decisions using design thinking and user-centered insights
Facilitate stakeholder design reviews and align on direction, rationale, and tradeoffs
Evaluate and champion AI-powered design tools/workflows to improve velocity and quality
Experiment with AI tooling such as generative UI, AI prototyping, and design-to-code; create internal guidelines for responsible use

Required qualifications

7+ years of product design experience, including 2+ years in design leadership or senior IC roles
Deep Figma expertise (component architecture, variables/tokens, auto layout, prototyping)
Proven experience building or significantly maturing a design system from the ground up
Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work

Nice-to-haves (implied by responsibilities)

Experience adopting AI-assisted workflows (generative UI, AI prototyping, design-to-code)
Demonstrated skills in accessibility, documentation, and governance for design systems
