Role Overview

Senior Design Engineer, Web (Creative Studio / Brand Web team) at Anthropic. You’ll bridge design and engineering to shape how Anthropic’s web properties are built, owning key surfaces across anthropic.com and claude.com—from interactive marketing and data visualization to internal tooling and content operations.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and implementation of major web surfaces (design system code, page templates, interactive experiences, data visualization systems).
• Set technical direction and lead end-to-end initiatives (migrations, redesigns, new product surfaces), including scoping, architecture decisions, coordination, and shipping.
• Define and evolve headless CMS architecture (content modeling, structured data workflows, editorial governance in code) and make it usable by non-engineers.
• Build creative tooling and internal systems, including Claude-powered design system tools, page generators, content workflows, and MCP integrations.
• Partner with Web Platforms, Security, and Growth Product Engineering on cross-team work: deployments, performance, technical SEO, experimentation infrastructure, and incident response.
• Make and document standards for framework choices, performance budgets, accessibility, code quality, and frontend infrastructure.
• Raise engineering craft across the team and help shape how the Web engineering function operates as it scales.
• Build and evolve localization infrastructure (translation workflows, vendor integration, performant and maintainable localized pages).
• Mentor mid-level engineers and contribute to hiring.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and shipping production web properties at scale, including owning architecture decisions and understanding their production impact.
• Expertise in modern frontend frameworks, especially Next.js / React, with strong judgment on tradeoffs and long-lived site structure.
• Leadership experience with headless CMS platforms, including shaping the content model and operational governance.
• Ability to build internal/creative tooling that teams rely on.
