Design Engineer - US (Remote)

Role Overview

Design Engineer (US, Remote) You’ll bridge design intent and shipped experience by building and evolving the product’s design system in code and raising the UI quality bar. This role reports into Design to ensure design engineering craft and interaction polish are embedded in the team that sets standards.

What You’ll Own

• Design system (Figma + code):
  • Maintain design system integrity across both surfaces.
  • Build/evolve React components, tokens, and patterns used by engineers.
  • Keep the Figma design library in sync with production; make system-level design tweaks.
• UI quality across the product:
  • Own the details: transitions, micro-interactions, responsive behavior, loading states, edge cases, and accessibility.
• Tooling and ways of working:
  • Improve collaboration, prototyping workflows, and shipping processes.
  • Deliver internal tooling, component documentation, and dev environment improvements.
• Production-ready code:
  • Ship user-facing improvements and internal tooling to a high standard.

How You’ll Work

• Partner closely with product designers (collaboration is not a handoff).
• Work directly with frontend and full-stack engineers to:
  • Establish reusable patterns/components.
  • Review UI implementations and define what “done” means in the codebase.

Requirements

• 6+ years building production-ready frontend code in complex component-based systems.
• Strong ability to ship production-quality UI and design-system components.
• Comfort making system-level design decisions in Figma and keeping it aligned with production.

Nice to Have

• Experience shaping design engineering practices as the function grows.
• Deep UI craftsmanship (interaction polish, accessibility, and edge-case handling).
• Experience building tooling/processes that increase team velocity.
