Design Director

Role Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Brand & Creative, the Design Director leads the day-to-day work of the BILL design team to deliver high-quality creative assets for marketing campaigns and related materials. You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across Brand, Copy, Product, and Growth Marketing to shape creative briefs, guide design execution, and drive projects to the desired creative outcome.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously lead and manage designers to produce high-bar, impactful marketing creative from brief through delivery
• Create and refine strategic creative briefs, defining a top-level creative vision and/or prompts that guide design development
• Interpret and clarify stakeholder feedback, direct revisions, and oversee delivery of final creative assets
• Present work professionally to senior leadership, stakeholders, and partner organizations
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure designers’ contributions align with project plans and goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related creative field (design, advertising, etc.)
• 6+ years professional experience in an in-house team or creative agency
• 6+ years managing designers, including experience across brand, motion, and web design
• Experience collaborating with external agencies and design vendors from RFP through delivery
• A strategic design portfolio showing your design process from ideation to implementation and your ability to lead designers
• Strong command of visual design principles (layout, typography, color, composition)
• Experience with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Asana

Interview Process

• Multiple rounds: one 1:1 interview, then a panel interview with team members

• Location: Algona, WA (Remote only)
• Contract: Contract role
• Work hours: 9–5pm PT
• Start date: To be decided
• Team context: Directly working with a team of 5 designers supporting a broader team of 8 designers

Compensation

• Max pay rate: $90/hr
