Deputy Manager Defense and Automotive Products (m/f/d)

Role Overview

Deputy Manager for the Defense and Automotive Products department at smartmicro. You will support the department manager and help lead development of software-defined radar sensors and related radar systems, including defense and automotive product lines.

Responsibilities

• Support the department manager by taking ownership of specific leadership tasks.
• Coordinate projects and prioritize tasks between the Defense/Automotive department and embedded/other software departments, with a strong customer focus.
• Help lead internal teams (~15 engineers) by fostering a strong teamwork culture with group leaders and other departments.
• Coach, motivate, manage, and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Drive effective use of engineering resources and maintain high code quality.
• Over time, you may take over full leadership of the department.

Team Areas / Scope

• Smartmicro standard products mainstream development (e.g., C-UAS sensors, altimeters, automotive sensors)
• Customer project teams for customer-specific C-UAS/altimeter products
• Application-specific tracking, classification, and sensor fusion software
• Software tools (visualization, data logging)
• Data logging / system testing

Requirements

• Completed Master’s or PhD in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Many years of experience in software development with strong knowledge of:
  • software technology, development methods/tools
  • software architecture
  • CI/CD
  • embedded Linux, C, and C++
• Deep understanding of embedded hardware and software.
• Strong commitment to delivering project schedules and milestones; ability to inspire teams.
• Strong communication skills, with mentoring and feedback organization capabilities.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
