About the role
Role Overview
Join ClickHouse as a Database Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability, availability, scalability, and performance of ClickHouse (especially ClickHouse Cloud). You will collaborate across teams, own incident processes, and drive continuous improvements.
Key Missions / Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement ClickHouse effectively for customers and guide them on best practices.
- Own engineering escalation management and incident response, including:
- Escalation handling
- Investigations
- Post-mortem analysis
- Continuous improvement of reliability processes
- Continuously improve reliability and performance of ClickHouse core.
- Enhance and mature incident response processes.
Requirements
- Scripting experience with Shell or Python, plus ability to read and understand C++ code.
- Strong ownership, responsibility, and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related field).
- Knowledge of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Production experience operating ClickHouse or other SQL databases.
- Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills.
- At least 5 years experience in Reliability Engineering, QA, or customer-facing engineering.
Nice to Have
- Excellent understanding of distributed database internals and SQL, with ClickHouse expertise being a major plus.
