About the role

Data Scientist (Contract, W2)

Location: USA (Remote) with 25%–30% travel across the United States
Duration: 6 months (extension possible)

Role Overview

Build scalable data solutions and deploy machine learning models to enable real-time analytics for manufacturing and shop floor operations. You will bridge OT and IT systems, working with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy ML models for:
    • Predictive maintenance
    • Anomaly detection
    • Demand forecasting
    • Root cause analysis
  • Build scalable data pipelines for high-volume manufacturing and IoT data
  • Integrate data from MES, SCADA, and ERP systems for real-time analytics
  • Apply manufacturing improvement methods such as OEE, SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean
  • Work with industrial/OT protocols: OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus
  • Perform statistical analysis (e.g., time series, regression, clustering, hypothesis testing)
  • Design and conduct A/B experiments and simulations to validate improvements
  • Translate insights into actionable business recommendations
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and leadership stakeholders

Required Skills

  • 8–10 years experience as a Data Scientist
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Delta Lake
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake
  • Strong understanding of ML and statistical methods
  • Experience deploying ML models into production
  • Familiarity with MES, SCADA, and ERP

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years in manufacturing/industrial environments
  • IoT and real-time streaming experience
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Experience with large-scale production data systems

  • Ability to translate technical findings into business outcomes
  • Analytical problem-solving and flexibility
  • Collaboration and stakeholder management
