About the role
Role: Data Scientist, Trust & Safety - Rentals (Specialist II)
You’ll design, develop, and deploy end-to-end analytical and machine learning solutions that address moderately complex business problems and customer use cases in Zillow’s Rentals trust and safety domain.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end analytics and ML solutions (with guidance from your manager).
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous questions into testable hypotheses.
- Define success metrics and translate requirements into robust analytical and modeling approaches.
- Build, validate, and maintain scalable data pipelines, features, and models for production use—focusing on reliability, reproducibility, and performance.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, drivers, and opportunities; communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Apply experimentation and evaluation practices such as:
- A/B testing
- Backtesting
- Error analysis
- Contribute to data quality, model governance, and responsible use of data/AI through shared standards, documentation, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related).
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, advanced analytics, or machine learning.
- Experience designing and implementing end-to-end analytical/ML solutions, including:
- data preparation
- feature engineering
- model development and validation
- operationalization
