Data Scientist

Role Overview

Stripe is hiring Data Scientists to partner with Product, Finance, Payments, Security, Risk, Growth, and Go-to-Market teams. You’ll use data, machine learning, and statistical methods to build models, data products, and insights that drive responsible business decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on specific business areas to optimize systems and improve strategic decisions
• Apply techniques such as:
  • Machine Learning and statistical modeling
  • Causal inference
  • Optimization
  • Experimentation and analytics
• Support a broad range of use cases, including:
  • Understanding user needs and preventing fraud
  • Optimizing charge flows
  • Forecasting outcomes, managing liquidity, quantifying risk exposure
  • Designing growth and go-to-market experiments and estimating causal effects

Requirements (Minimum)

• PhD + 3 years or MS/MA + 6 years or BS/BA + 8 years of data science/quantitative modeling experience
• Proficiency in SQL and a computing language such as Python or R
• Strong hands-on experience in several of:
  • Machine Learning, statistics, optimization
  • Product analytics, causal inference, experimentation
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver results
• Ability to communicate results clearly and drive impact
• Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects with high attention to detail
• Solid business acumen and translating analyses into actionable recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying models in production and tuning model thresholds
• Experience designing/running/analyzing complex experiments and/or leveraging causal inference designs
• Experience with distributed tools such as Spark and Hadoop
• PhD or MS in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Sciences, Operations Research)

Remote Work Policy

You will work remotely from home. A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 km) or more from a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover relocation costs.
