About the role
Role Overview
Sparksoft is hiring a Data Scientist to improve program data quality, build automated reporting, and develop statistical and machine learning models to support Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) fraud, waste, and abuse detection.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product owners, customers, and leaders to shape data-driven strategies.
- Develop solutions to address business challenges and continuously improve data quality and data accessibility.
- Work with data operations and reporting teams to design, develop, and execute automated data reporting solutions (quality and performance focused).
- Research and build statistical models for data analysis.
- Apply machine learning/AI to detect anomalies and trends; support informed decision-making.
- Run data pilot analysis and comparative performance analysis.
- Streamline performance and data quality analysis across multiple data sources.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models into production, collaborating with engineers/developers.
- Monitor model performance and refine/update algorithms as needed.
- Design and maintain analytics reports and dashboards; provide ad-hoc analysis for customer needs.
- Present insights to business owners and leadership.
- Transfer knowledge by training team members on processes.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute to testing progress/challenges.
- Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and techniques for efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Experience
- 5+ years as a Data Scientist (or similar).
- Experience with data analytics tools: SQL, R, Python.
- Data visualization experience with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or AWS QuickSight.
- Experience designing, training, validating, and deploying machine learning models.
- Cloud experience: AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Version control: GitHub.
- Database knowledge including PostgreSQL and Oracle, plus data modeling.
- Agile experience using SAFe and Scrum; tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
