Data Scientist (Remote)

Role Overview

Fully remote Data Scientist role at Sprouts Farmers Market. You will join a team of data scientists and analysts to develop machine learning models and recommender systems that enable personalized experiences for customers.

Responsibilities

Analytics & Business Partnering (70%)

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and KPIs
• Design, develop, and execute analytical solutions that support decisions and improve business outcomes
• Analyze data, identify anomalies, and provide actionable insights
• Conduct precise, accurate analyses using available tools
• Predict, test, and measure impacts of initiatives on business outcomes
• Update and distribute reports, dashboards, and presentations to executive leadership
• Drive continuous improvement by increasing the speed from data to decisions and measurable results
• Support ad hoc data/analysis requests from business partners
• Provide leadership to ensure processes exist to monitor and manage business performance using data

Development, Machine Learning & Maintenance (30%)

• Train and test supervised and unsupervised machine learning models (prediction, segmentation, recommendations)
• Work with IT to implement ML models into production
• Partner with IT on automated ETL processes, narrowcast reports, and maintenance of BI/database servers
• Improve efficiency and usability of BI capabilities for business users
• Contribute to projects including BI, master data management, and data governance
• Validate data source integrity and remediate data issues with internal/external teams
• Develop processes/algorithms to cleanse, standardize, and join disparate data sources
• Integrate new data sources into existing datasets and improve dataset reliability/availability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in a role combining business impact with technical delivery (data science)
• Experience training and implementing supervised and unsupervised ML models
• Strong programming experience, preferably in Python
• Advanced database experience and strong SQL
• Advanced BI tool experience (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Familiarity with data formats such as CSV, JSON, XML
• Ability to work with very large, complex, and disparate data sources
• Strong stakeholder communication and ability to tell a story with data
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Retail domain knowledge and business intuition
