Data Scientist (Remote)

Role Overview

Data Scientist (Remote) at Purchasing Power (PROG Holdings) — a work-from-home position supporting remote work anywhere in the Continental U.S. or in their Utah corporate office. You’ll help build data-driven products in the Fintech space by developing and improving decision systems and predictive models that drive business impact.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve decision systems and predictive models.
• Explore and incorporate new internal and external data sources to improve model performance.
• Design and implement solutions and prototype ideas to address business problems.
• Conduct in-market experimentation/testing for new algorithms, technologies, and processes.
• Analyze data rigorously and communicate insights; support strategic changes with strong evidence.
• Contribute to the creation of AI-enabled tools and internal workflows.
• Develop a deep understanding of customers, products, and financials through data analysis.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a relevant role.
• Master’s degree in a quantitative/technical field (e.g., Math, Stats, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science).
• Proficiency with R, Python, machine learning tools, and SQL.
• Demonstrated ability applying advanced models to real-world problems.
• Ability to craft rigorous research/evaluation designs.

Nice to Have

• Experience in engineering environments.
• DevOps knowledge and a Git track record.
• Agentic AI use/implementation experience.
