Role: Data Scientist (Remote)

ICF is seeking a Data Scientist to support work across NIH. The role focuses on building AI-driven data solutions, developing statistical and predictive models, and communicating results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop custom AI-driven data pipelines to address client problems, improve efficiency, and maintain quality standards.
• Design and conduct statistical analyses; visualize outputs from statistical models.
• Present, interpret, and validate predictive model outputs; perform QA on model code and outputs.
• Develop solutions using both generative and non-generative AI models.
• Identify key questions in large datasets and translate them into analytical tasks.
• Build quantitative models and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Create and execute database queries to support preparing and formatting modeling inputs.

Requirements (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, or related).
• 3+ years of experience with modeling and quantitative analysis using standard statistical software.
• Highly proficient in Python.
• Experience with GenAI and LLM tools/frameworks.
• 1+ year experience with a major public cloud service (preferred: AWS Bedrock, SageMaker/Fundry, or Vertex AI).
• 1+ year experience with NLP and machine learning/deep learning principles and practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required.
• Ability to work standard Eastern Time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience incorporating generative AI into data transformation pipelines.
• Prompt engineering experience (design, test, iterate prompts to improve quality and reduce hallucinations).
• Understanding of deep learning methodologies.
• Experience with data warehouse design/development and data modeling (relational and dimensional).
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and initiative.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to prioritize and execute under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
