Data Scientist | Remote

Role Overview

Crossing Hurdles is hiring a Data Scientist for a remote hourly contract. The role (about 10–40 hours/week) focuses on building and validating data science models and turning insights into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and preprocess diverse datasets to ensure analysis-ready data
• Develop, validate, and implement statistical and predictive models to produce actionable insights
• Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and business opportunities
• Build data visualizations and reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data science projects
• Improve analytical methodologies and automate data workflows to increase efficiency
• Present findings and recommendations through clear written and verbal communication

Requirements

• Strong expertise in statistics, mathematics, and data analysis
• Proven experience handling, cleaning, and analyzing large/complex datasets
• Proficiency with Python, R, SQL (or similar) for data manipulation and modeling
• Strong experience building and validating predictive and statistical models
• Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Matplotlib
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail
