About the role
Role: Product Data Scientist (Product Analytics)
Whatnot is looking for a Product Data Scientist to partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to drive insights, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making across the company.
Responsibilities
- Define and own product KPIs for product health, user engagement, and marketplace performance
- Analyze user behavior and marketplace dynamics to identify opportunities and inform product priorities
- Translate complex analyses into actionable recommendations for product and leadership teams
- Design, implement, and evaluate A/B tests and feature rollouts with product and engineering partners
- Develop measurement frameworks including causal inference and long-term product evaluation
- Create scalable methods to measure feature performance and guide iteration
- Build data products and self-serve tools, including dashboards and data pipelines, using the company’s modern data stack
- Improve data accessibility and quality and support instrumentation for new product features
- Advocate for measurement culture, communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influence roadmaps
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Decision Science, or Analytics in a product-focused organization
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Economics, Statistics) or equivalent experience
- Proven statistical/analytical methods applied to real-world product problems
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL and experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
- Experience with Spark and/or DBT
- Proficiency in Python or R for analysis, modeling, and experimentation
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests
Location / Work Setup
- US-based role with flexibility to work from home or from global hubs
- Must live within commuting distance of New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, or San Francisco hubs
