Data Scientist (Platform Integrity)

Role Overview

Data Scientist (Platform Integrity) at Sleeper, focused on Risk and User Experience. In a cross-functional role, you’ll use data to understand player behavior in real time, detect fraud, and help shape seamless user journeys.

Key Missions

• Optimize onboarding by partnering with product leaders to improve the onboarding funnel and identify areas for growth.
• Build scalable analytics to continuously evaluate user journeys and define key metrics.
• Implement real-time event tracking with engineering, including defining schemas for user activity.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to convert data into actionable insights and iteratively refine systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and run analytics/measurement approaches for user behavior.
• Work with engineering to ensure event data is captured, modeled, and used for risk and UX decision-making.
• Develop and support tooling/workflows that help teams act on analytics.

Profile / Requirements

• Experience building or working with event-based analytics systems.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product.
• 4+ years of industry experience in data science, economics, analytics, or machine learning engineering.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, R, or similar) and data query/processing tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark, and Airflow.
• Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, or related field.
• Familiarity with machine learning for classification, clustering, and anomaly detection.
• Experience working in Fraud/Risk/Trust & Safety.
• Experience building internal analytics tooling for operations/user lifecycle workflows (onboarding, review systems, risk signals), e.g. Retool, Appsmith, or similar.
• Experience in real money gaming or other high-velocity transaction environments.
• Comfortable writing light JavaScript in data/UI workflows.
