Data Scientist, North Insights

Role Overview

As a Data Scientist on Cohere’s Analytics and Data Insights team (North Insights), you’ll build analytics that shape product and company strategy. You’ll own analytical work end-to-end, from framing the right questions and building models to shipping insights, tools, and results used by product leaders, sales, and enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Build agentic analytics to bring structure and clarity to real-world data.
• Define AI impact measurement: own end-to-end analytics for adoption, growth, and impact used by North leadership to prioritize by measured value.
• Ship customer-facing analytics that demonstrate evidence of value to enterprise customers.
• Create small language models to categorize, classify, and enrich message data for customer visibility into how teams use Cohere’s products.
• Design and run experiments, including:
  • A/B tests
  • Causal inference studies
  • Opportunity sizing tied to product and go-to-market decisions
• Build and deploy predictive models for forecasting, segmentation, propensity scoring, and opportunity sizing across core business lines.
• Act like an owner: define analytical priorities, push initiatives from question to production, and own outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong command of SQL and Python, and experience using Git.
• Expertise in statistical inference, experimental design, and predictive modeling.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into rigorous analytical problems with clear recommendations.
• Experience building and deploying production models (not just notebook analysis).
• Ability to take a classifier from prototype to production at meaningful volume.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as BigQuery, dbt, Looker, or Airflow.
