Data Scientist, North Insights

Role Overview

Data Scientist on the Analytics and Data Insights team at Cohere, working on analytics problems without textbook answers. You will own analytical work end-to-end—from framing questions and building models to shipping insights and tools used by product, sales, and enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Build agentic analytics to bring clarity and order to real-world data.
• Define AI impact measurement: own analytics around adoption, growth, and impact to help North leadership prioritize by measured value.
• Ship customer-facing analytics that demonstrate evidence of value for enterprise customers.
• Build small language models to categorize, classify, and enrich message data to provide visibility into how enterprise teams use Cohere products.
• Design and run experiments including A/B testing, causal inference studies, and opportunity sizing tied to product and go-to-market decisions.
• Develop and deploy predictive models for forecasting, segmentation, propensity scoring, and opportunity sizing.
• Act like an owner: define analytical priorities, move initiatives from question to production, and take responsibility for outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong command of SQL and Python, plus Git.
• Expertise in statistical inference, experimental design, and predictive modeling.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into rigorous analytical problems with clear recommendations.
• Experience building and deploying production models (not only notebook work).
• Understanding of taking a classifier from prototype to production at scale.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity, managing multiple workstreams, and producing concise, actionable narratives.
• Collaborative mindset working with product, research, sales, and finance.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as BigQuery, dbt, Looker, or Airflow.
• Strong interest in AI research and a desire to work “in the weeds.”
