Data Scientist, New Grad

Role Overview

Data Scientist (New Grad) at SentiLink. You’ll build and ship machine learning models for fraud detection and identity/risk products, applying ML to real-world problems in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end ML lifecycle for fraud detection models, including:
  • Data acquisition decisions
  • Featurization
  • Labeling strategy (and focusing labeling resources)
  • Model training and experimentation
  • Productionalization
  • Ongoing monitoring
• Develop foundational models that support SentiLink’s growing set of fraud and financial risk products.
• Conduct research on new types of fraud and work cross-functionally to provide analysis that can support product development, sales, and marketing.
• Write production-quality code as part of a full-stack data science workflow.

Teams / Possible Focus Areas

• Emerging Products (0-to-1): Build new offerings brought to market
• Application Fraud: Detect fraud in consumer financial applications
• Identity: Resolve identities across large, conflicting digital/physical data sources and generate risk models

Requirements

• Designed for new PhD graduates or early-career researchers.
• Strong interest in applying machine learning to real-world fraud detection (not only research papers).
• Ability to build and ship models in a production setting.
• Demonstrated technical capability and domain understanding/critical thinking.

Technical Skills

• Python 3
• PostgreSQL
• AWS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift)

Preferred / Work Location

• Remote within the U.S.
• Preference for candidates who can work from Austin, San Francisco, or New York offices; some roles are hybrid/in-office by design.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience or strong interest in end-to-end ownership and fast-moving product-focused environments.
