Data Scientist II

Role Overview

Data Scientist II on the Rentals Data Science – Shopping team. You will partner with product, engineering, design, and ML to solve high-impact problems across the rental shopping experience—helping millions of renters discover, evaluate, and secure their next home.

Responsibilities

• Define and refine metrics that improve the rental shopping funnel (search/discovery through contact and conversion).
• Design, run, and analyze A/B tests and experiments using statistical and causal inference methods.
• Analyze large-scale behavioral and clickstream datasets to uncover insights that inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.
• Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations that influence product direction and prioritization.
• Own projects end-to-end, from problem framing and scoping to methodology selection, execution, and communicating results/tradeoffs.
• Use modern AI, internal platforms, and data tooling to automate and streamline workflows and scale impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of data science experience, ideally in a product-focused environment influencing roadmap/feature decisions.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference, including hands-on A/B test design and analysis.
• Experience with event/clickstream data and large-scale datasets.
• Proficient in Python and SQL; able to build robust analyses in production-scale data environments.
• Ability to independently scope ambiguous problems and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
