Role: Data Scientist I

As a Data Scientist, you will partner with college and university stakeholders to translate business questions into data questions and deliver analyses, predictive models, reports, and AI/ML solutions that support institutional decision-making and student success.

Responsibilities

• Translate institutional goals into analyses and data visualizations for complex business problems.
• Perform exploratory and statistical analysis to build and validate analytical datasets.
• Develop and maintain machine learning and forecasting models (e.g., classification, time series) using a custom Python framework to generate scores and forecasts.
• Communicate predictive modeling results and insights through interactive dashboards for college and university end-users.
• Collaborate with data science/engineering teams to build data pipelines, improve internal systems, and deploy and maintain models in production.
• Share knowledge with other data scientists and contribute to documentation, process standardization, and product development.
• Occasionally travel (typically 1–3 days, ~3 times per year) to offices and client sites for meetings and presentations.

Requirements

• 3+ years delivering analytical insights to higher-ed stakeholders.
• Experience building and evaluating machine learning models; Python and scikit-learn required.
• Analytical dataset design and feature engineering skills; SQL and Python.
• Ability to conduct, interpret, and explain statistical analyses.
• Experience with interactive data visualization/BI tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both business users and technical teams; ability to present to decision-makers.
• Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote role, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Understanding of model transparency/explainability and ethical issues in data science.
• Experience with producing/deploying models (production environment) (familiarity indicated, details truncated in posting).
