Data Scientist I and II (GCP & AI Engineer)

Role Overview

Early-career Data Scientist I / GCP & AI Engineer responsible for designing, building, and deploying data-driven solutions that create measurable business value. You will work in a mentorship-driven environment using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to develop models and also the supporting feature preparation and deployment workflows.

Responsibilities

• Modeling: Develop predictive and descriptive analytics on structured and unstructured data (classification, regression, clustering, hypothesis testing)
• Feature engineering & data prep: Clean, curate, and transform raw data into high-quality datasets for training and evaluation
• Data retrieval & manipulation: Write efficient SQL and Python to extract, manipulate, and explore data in BigQuery and Cloud Storage (GCS)
• Business intelligence: Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate metrics and insights (Looker / Looker Studio)
• MLOps & version control: Participate in code reviews, use Git, and apply foundational CI/CD and MLOps practices (e.g., model tracking) for deployment
• GenAI exploration: Explore generative AI concepts and foundational models using Vertex AI tools to identify business use cases
• Collaboration: Partner with business and IT teams and other data scientists to translate operational questions into analytical insights and monitor outcomes
• Data quality: Ensure accuracy and quality of data, including reconciliation across disparate sources

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• Experience: 0–3 years (internships, academic projects, or co-ops strongly valued)
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Foundational knowledge of ML libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
• Mindset: Strong communication skills and a proactive eagerness to learn

Nice-to-haves / Implied Technical Areas

• Familiarity with GCP analytics services (BigQuery, GCS, Vertex AI)
• Experience building analytics visualizations in Looker / Looker Studio
• Exposure to basic MLOps workflows and model tracking
