Data Scientist (Remote, USA) — Long-Term Contract

Role overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Scientist (15+ years) to join a long-term strategic initiative. You will build and deploy advanced analytical solutions using statistical modeling and machine learning to improve decision-making and drive measurable business results.

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy machine learning models for:
- Predictive analytics, forecasting, classification, clustering, and recommendation systems
Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
Design and implement statistical models to address business problems
Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into analytical solutions
Build and optimize data pipelines with Data Engineering teams
Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations for executive leadership
Perform feature engineering, model validation, hyperparameter tuning, and performance optimization
Apply advanced analytics (including NLP, deep learning, and generative AI) where appropriate
Monitor model performance and implement continuous improvement
Mentor junior data scientists and provide technical leadership
Document methodologies, assumptions, and results

Required skills

15+ years of overall IT experience with significant Data Science/Advanced Analytics experience
Strong expertise in Python and SQL
Machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or XGBoost
Deep understanding of statistics, probability, predictive modeling, and data mining
Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib
Large-scale data processing with Spark/PySpark
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
Knowledge of feature engineering, model evaluation, and MLOps concepts
Strong communication and stakeholder management

Preferred/nice-to-have

PhD or Master’s in Data Science/Statistics/Math/CS/Engineering or related field
Experience leading enterprise-level initiatives
Domain experience (healthcare, finance, insurance, retail, or technology)
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, MLflow, and additional MLOps/governance platforms
Generative AI/LLMs, RAG, and AI Agents (including agentic AI frameworks)
