Data Scientist

Role overview

Remote (within the US) Data Scientist to join HiddenLayer’s Data Sciences and ML Engineering team. You will build, ship, and continuously improve models and LLM-powered systems that power core security products.

What you’ll do

• Model development & research
  • Build classifiers, detectors, and scoring models on messy, high-stakes security data.
  • Design experiments, evaluate trade-offs, and iterate on architectures (beyond hyperparameter tuning).
• LLM agent systems
  • Shape prompts, context, tool-use patterns, and supporting content for LLM agents.
• Production delivery
  • Ship models behind real traffic, monitor performance, and improve over time.
• Evaluation & iteration
  • Build evaluation harnesses and feedback loops to measure whether changes truly improve outcomes.

Requirements

• Production ML experience as the single most important criterion: ~3–4+ years shipping and maintaining models in production environments.
• Strong ML fundamentals: understand model architectures and when/why approaches fit.
• Experimentation mindset: comfortable with novel approaches; can assess robustness vs fragility.
• Strong engineering instincts: code quality for readability, extensibility, and trust; focus on reproducibility, testing, and handoff.
• Practical LLM experience: prompting/context/tool use/evaluation/fine-tuning with shipped systems.
• Comfort with ambiguity: ability to frame/scoped problems with rare signals and imperfect data.
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a technical discipline (CS, statistics, physics, math, engineering, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience specifically in security/adversarial AI contexts (implied by domain focus).
