Data Scientist

Role Overview

As a Data Scientist at Flock Safety, you’ll analyze data, build data models, and develop predictive and prescriptive tools that support critical business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Explore and analyze data; create and iterate on data models
• Develop predictive, simulation, and optimization models
• Build and deploy prescriptive/predictive tooling to drive business decisions
• Implement and enhance SQL data models and Python-based models
• Contribute to end-to-end automation and deployment infrastructure
• Add automated monitoring and testing for models
• Create new data science projects in partnership with business stakeholders
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners to drive solutions

Requirements

• BS/MS in Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years experience as a data/decision scientist or AI/ML engineer
• Strong Python skills with core AI/ML/OR packages
• Strong SQL and data processing abilities
• Experience developing data models; dbt exposure/experience is a plus
• Experience building predictive/simulation/optimization models
• Data visualization experience (e.g., Sigma, Tableau)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment patterns

• Exposure to dbt
• Comfort driving complex and abstract problems in partnership with business stakeholders

90-Day Plan (Preview)

• First 30 days: learn toolkits/stack, understand existing DS projects and SQL models, begin implementing model enhancements
• First 60 days: deploy enhanced versions of owned projects; start a new DS project with stakeholder roadmap, methodology, and architecture
• 90 days & beyond: be independent end-to-end, implement automated monitoring/testing, and expand use cases for strategic business needs

Compensation

• Starting salary: $150,000–$170,000 plus stock options
