Data Scientist

Role Overview

EVgo is seeking a Data Scientist to analyze and solve problems across its EV charger network. You will use data, analytics, and algorithms to improve analytic systems and help operations, hardware, and software teams identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues.

Responsibilities

• Data Wrangling: Combine data from multiple sources and formats into datasets suitable for analysis.
• Visualization: Create and curate charts/graphics to reveal actionable insights.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Detect, manage, and resolve technical/engineering problems using data systems and analytics.
• Industry Knowledge: Learn EV charging business details and the sources of related data.
• Reporting Progress: Communicate progress, obstacles, and learnings.
• Project Selection: Propose and drive projects that answer key questions, support strategy, and optimize automated system control.
• Data Exploration: Explore existing datasets to answer questions and develop hypotheses.
• Communication & Documentation: Document methods and results clearly for colleagues.
• Maintain Expertise: Identify new data sources and analytic innovations to benefit EVgo and its customers.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent experience.

Desired Skills

• Proficient in SQL and Python scripting.
• Experience with data exploration, data visualization, linear regression, categorical models, and machine learning.
• Can work independently with minimal oversight and knows when to seek guidance.
• Enjoys collaborating to resolve technical problems.
