About the role

Role Overview

CVS/Oak Street Health is hiring a Data Scientist for the Decision Sciences team. The team delivers data-driven solutions to optimize Oak Street Health’s care model and improve patient outcomes in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct statistical analysis and apply advanced mathematical/statistical methods to solve business problems.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to validate and quantify trends from partner organizations.
  • Develop insights, visualizations, and data artifacts to support broader data science initiatives.
  • Wrangle and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets in a repeatable way.
  • Design and execute prospective study designs, including ROI assessments and clinical program evaluations/optimizations.
  • Create statistical analysis plans with program stakeholders and present results to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience conducting statistical analysis and machine learning to answer research or business questions (or 1+ year with a Master’s/PhD).
  • 3+ years experience with SQL and Python (or 1+ year with a Master’s/PhD).
  • Ability to decompose multi-tier problems into actionable steps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with large datasets and extracting actionable insights.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCP and BigQuery experience.
  • Experience with medical datasets.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering / MLOps teams to productionalize models.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and ML platforms such as Databricks and GCP Vertex AI.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and value-based care models.
  • Familiarity with Epic EHR systems.

Education

  • PhD or Master’s with 1+ year relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s with 3+ years relevant experience in a STEM field (e.g., Operations Research/Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Computer Science, Engineering).
