Data Scientist -AI Pilots

Role Overview

Mid-Level Data Scientist to support AI pilot initiatives for government programs, building practical machine learning solutions in secure environments. You’ll work in an Agile delivery team to produce working prototypes, integrate automation and APIs, and help expand responsible AI adoption across mission-focused federal programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML pilot solutions for operational government use cases (e.g., workflow automation, document processing, decision-support analytics)
• Build Python-based data ingestion, processing, modeling, and deployment solutions, including API integration across systems
• Create automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate (or similar tools) for data movement and process improvement
• Integrate APIs and data services to enable end-to-end analytical pipelines across legacy and modern platforms
• Prepare operational datasets (cleaning, organizing, transforming inconsistent data)
• Translate business/operational requirements into technical designs, models, and working prototypes
• Collaborate with program leadership, technical teams, and stakeholders to align solutions with mission needs
• Document approaches, data flows, and model behavior for sustainment and knowledge transfer
• Support meetings with customers in Rosslyn, Virginia as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• 3–6 years of experience in data science / applied AI / software-driven analytics
• Strong Python skills (data pipelines, ML models, API integrations)
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Automate (or similar workflow automation)
• Experience building/deploying AI/ML solutions including predictive models, NLP, or LLM applications
• Experience with REST APIs and integrating multiple data sources
• Ability to translate operational problems into structured technical implementations
• Strong written and verbal communication; can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to attend customer meetings in Rosslyn, VA as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, especially Azure AI/ML services
• Familiarity with secure government cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government
• Working knowledge of MLOps and model lifecycle/deployment practices
• Agile delivery experience focused on rapid prototyping
