About the role

Role Overview

Reddit is hiring a Data Scientist (Ads) to join its Ads Data Science team. The role focuses on building and applying advanced data science and machine learning models to improve understanding of what drives advertising success and to identify opportunities to accelerate impact.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large-scale datasets to find trends, patterns, and actionable insights for improving Reddit’s advertising effectiveness
  • Develop machine learning and data science methods for tasks such as:
    • anomaly detection
    • prediction
    • pattern recognition
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization
  • Partner with product, engineering, sales, marketing, and data teams to:
    • define metrics
    • translate requirements into data science solutions
    • support product and program planning
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in machine learning and data science

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research
  • Industry experience:
    • M.S.: 3+ years in applied science/data science
    • Ph.D.: 2+ years in applied science/data science
  • Strong grounding in:
    • statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms
    • causal inference and experimental design
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis using tools such as:
    • Spark, Hadoop, or Hive (BigQuery knowledge is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Python or R, plus experience with ML libraries such as:
    • scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Passion for Reddit and the online advertising industry

Bonus / Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in online advertising and ad tech
  • Experience with causal inference and A/B testing
  • Contributions to open-source projects or relevant publications
