About the role

Role Overview

WebstaurantStore is seeking a full-time Data Scientist (Data Scientist 3) to join the Data Science team. The role provides statistical rigor to analytics initiatives by developing models and analyses that reveal actionable insights and optimization opportunities.

Responsibilities

Advise on analysis and modeling techniques for structured and unstructured complex data.
Develop custom analytics models to generate insights that drive customer value and competitive advantage.
Collaborate with analytics engineers to source the right data and implement advanced statistical methodologies and interventions.
Perform exploratory analysis, including:
- hypothesis testing
- statistical inference
- predictive and/or prescriptive analytics
Translate retail business problems into state-of-the-art data science solutions with business and technical stakeholders.
Build processes/tools to monitor model performance and improve data accuracy over time.
Design and implement experiments with other data scientists and extract actionable insights.
Explain and defend predictive/ML model validity to non-technical stakeholders.
Stay current on analytics tools and best practices through continuous research.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of data science work experience, or a PhD in math, statistics, economics, or a modeling-related field.
Advanced Python and SQL skills.
Strong statistical methods and advanced modeling techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and explain concepts clearly.

Nice to Have

Experience with one or more of:
- e-commerce search
- recommendation engines
- dynamic pricing
- user matching / data cleanrooms

Location / Remote Policy

Remote possible in some US states (legal residents only of the listed states), otherwise based in:
- Lititz, PA or Tampa, FL.
Remote work requires reliable high-speed internet (preferred cable/fiber), dedicated noise-free home office, and a valid physical address (PO boxes not supported).
